Market positioning
The UK rail engineering market addresses the various needs of owners and operators of the UK rail network. Network Rail is nearing the end of CP4, a £37.6 billion programme of expenditure (including operating costs) between April 2009 and March 2014. The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) has set its final determination for Network Rail’s spending plans for CP5, which runs from April 2014 to March 2019. Network Rail can spend a total of £38.3 billion on the rail network in Great Britain over the next five years. This includes a £24.9 billion allowance for capital expenditure, up from £24 billion in CP4.
