B&Q has opened two in-store Energy Saving Hubs in Manchester to assist shoppers looking to make their home more energy-efficient. Shoppers will be able to walk-in or pre-book appointments to use the free service where a specially trained B&Q employee will be able to take a home energy assessment to provide advice and tips on how to make their house more efficient. The B&Q adviser will also assist with grant applications.

B&Q and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) have partnered to launch these hubs inside its Trafford Park and Cheetham Hill stores. THe hubs are open daily from 11am to 5pm and will be in-store until March 2025.

Mintel comment:

“As many have faced rising gas/electricity prices over the past year, UK households are actively seeking ways to enhance the energy efficiency of their homes. This trend towards sustainability is driven by a desire to undertake projects that not only contribute to long-term savings but also align with environmental values. An impressive 69% of consumers are interested in energy-efficient home improvement projects that will help them save money in the long run ( see Mintel’s DIY Retailing, UK - 2024 Report). Recognizing this shift, B&Q has launched its Energy Saving Hubs in Manchester, offering a valuable resource for individuals looking to make informed decisions about energy-saving measures.

These hubs serve as a bridge, narrowing the gap between intent and action often observed among those keen on adopting sustainable practices. By providing direct access to expertise and support right within their stores, B&Q is making sustainable living more achievable for their customers, simplifying the process of incorporating energy-efficient solutions into their homes.”
