Asda has opened its first London-based, in-store vaccination centre in its Old Kent Road store in south London. The centre is its first in the capital and third in the UK, following the successful launch of its Cape Hill, Birmingham and Watford vaccination centres. Asda has partnered with the NHS to convert the George clothing section of the store into a secure vaccination centre capable of delivering over a thousand vaccines per week. The retailer has delivered over 26,000 vaccinations since opening its first centre in the Cape Hill store.

Asda superintendent pharmacist Faisal Tuddy said that the in-store pharmacies were “located at the heart of communities and easily accessible, which makes them a convenient option for priority groups living nearby”; he added that the Old Kent road store would hopefully be “a big step towards helping the local community return to normality”.
