Boohoo has bought Debenhams for £55 million including its website. However the takeover does not include Debenhams remaining 118 high street stores or its employees. As a result, up to 12,000 jobs at the department store chain will be cut.
Boohoo said it plans to relaunch Debenhams new web platform in early 2022. The online retailer also said it will be expanding Debenhams product categories and its supplier partnerships.
