Kingfisher sales slip across several markets offset by strength in core categories

In the six months to 31 July 2024, Kingfisher reported a 2.4% decline on a like-for-like basis to £6.75bn, while profits edged down 0.2% on a constant currency basis to £2.48bn. The UK, Ireland, and Poland saw like-for-like sales dip 0.2%, with the group adding that both were “resilient despite weather-impacted seasonal sales.” Meanwhile, sales in France fell 7.2%, in line with the market. Kingfisher noted that there were “resilient core category sales,” which fell just 1.1%, and “weak big-ticket sales,” which dropped 6.8%.

B&Q sales experienced a 1% decline, while Screwfix sales increased by 1.2%, with both recording positive sales in core categories. E-commerce sales grew 8.4%, driven by growth in the UK and Ireland.
