Fast fashion retailer Primark has announced the launch of a clothing recycling scheme. Customers will be able to recycle any brand of pre-owned clothes, textiles, footwear and bags at one of the retailer's 190 stores across the UK. Profits from the Primark In-store Recycling Scheme will go to UNICEF to support its education programmes for vulnerable children worldwide.

The retailer said that the launch is designed to coincide with the end of lockdown as consumers were expected to have had wardrobe clear-outs in this period. The company said that the new scheme is another step in its Primark Cares initiative which also includes the expansion of its Sustainable Cotton Programme.
