Supermarket chain Asda is testing a new cleaning machine at a store in Morley which uses electrostatically charged mist to coat shopping trolleys in anti-microbial liquid that can kill 99.9% of bacteria in seconds, as part of a wider initiative to raise hygiene levels across its shops to help stop the spread COVID-19 and enable customers to shop safely.

Asda’s senior store manager Graeme Wightman said: “We continue to make shopping safety a priority for customers, building upon hygiene measures already introduced like the provision of hand sanitiser to all customers in our stores.”
