Morrisons extends its partnership with Too Good To Go to allow customers to purchase bags of food at a reduced price at Morrisons Daily convenience stores. Morrisons shoppers will be able to access the bags of food via the Too Good To Go app by searching for the nearest Morrisons Daily store, before arranging a time for collection. The “surprise bags” of reduced-price food will be available in 930 of Morrisons convenience stores.

Morrisons became a Too Good To Go partner in 2019 and, during the trials to date, has saved over 40,000 bags of waste across the UK.

Mintel comment:

“Promoting cost savings continues to be an effective way to drive consumers towards more sustainable habits. 70% of convenience store shoppers would be interested in buying a surplus bag of food products approaching their best-by dates from their local convenience store at a discounted price (see Mintel’s Convenience Stores - UK, 2024 Report). Morrisons extending its partnership to its convenience format is key to making sustainability more accessible to convenience store shoppers while promoting sustainable shopping behaviours, as 30% of consumers would be interested in buying food that would otherwise have gone to waste (see Mintel’s Convenience Stores - UK, 2024 Report). Morrisons and Too Good To Go have been partners since 2019, saving 2.3 million Surprise Bags of food from being wasted. It is a natural next step for the supermarket to roll out to its convenience stores in an effort to continue to combat food waste.”
