What you need to know

As climate change continues to affect Ireland and the rest of the planet, Irish consumers are becoming more conscience of their environmental impact and are looking towards adopting eco and ethical practices to cut down on their carbon footprint.

Common practices such as recycling, switching off lights and appliances when not in use are strong among consumers in Ireland but there is also growing demand for greater developments in this space including plastic-free and packaging-free stores, readily available greener energy and zero waste restaurants. Companies and brands are well positioned to connect with Irish consumers on a more meaningful and ethical level by communicating their shared passion towards a ‘greener’ Ireland.

Issues covered in this Report

This Report examines the behaviours and attitudes of Irish consumers when it comes to environmentally friendly and eco practices, as well as ethical practices. By eco practices we mean efforts to reduce waste, energy usage or otherwise engage in behaviour that will benefit the environment and eco-system. This includes practices that limit contribution to:

  • Air pollution

  • Landfill

  • Ocean waste

By ethical practices this means practices that benefit causes, charities, etc, such as promoting equal rights, supporting the homeless, or boycotting certain businesses/practices.

Due to the nature of this Report, no Market Size data or Forecast is included, as information relating to spending on eco and ethical practices/products is not currently available for either NI or RoI.
