Despite significant political policy changes following the general election, public housing construction activity increased significantly in 2010. This reflected the time lag involved in both construction and the delayed impact of policies of the previous administration. Growth subsequently slowed significantly in 2011, before the market fell into strong decline in 2012, in line with government reductions in public spending. However, growth was again evident in 2013, despite continued public expenditure pressures imposed by the government.
