What you need to know

COVID-19 has dramatically impacted the color cosmetics market. The need and desire for makeup is being driven down due to ongoing social distancing, protective face mask wearing and uncertainty surrounding the “next normal.” However, key demographics have been using increased time spent at home as an opportunity to learn about beauty and experiment with trends. While priorities shift away from appearance toward personal health and safety in the short term, cosmetics provide a creative outlet and support self-esteem, suggesting the market will recover over time.

Key issues covered in this Report

  • The impact of COVID-19 on consumer behavior and the color cosmetics market

  • A COVID-19-induced recession will see consumers trade down
