This Report explores consumer interest in and engagement with America’s pastime – baseball. As one of the four major professional sports in the United States, we explore the current state of baseball and what is shaping its future – such as incorporating technology, fantasy sports, and sports betting. We also examine consumer interest in, and perceptions of baseball, barriers and opportunities related to following baseball and attending games, and more.

Definition

For the purposes of this Report, Mintel defines “baseball fans” as respondents who self-identify as following at least one of Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball (teams affiliated with a Major League Baseball team), College Baseball or World Baseball Classic/Olympic Baseball.
